Karyn has held the top Human Resources position across multiple industries, all of which have involved developing and leading strategic HR teams along with creating and aligning the people agenda to the business strategy. Karyn has worked across the organizational spectrum from start-ups to world-class organizations, in union and non-union environments, in creatively led and manufacturing-based businesses, and in high-growth to contracting sectors.

In order for HR teams and organizations to truly flourish, they need to be able to build new capabilities critical for success. FABRIC’s philosophy is to build and embed these core skills necessary to bring the organization to the next level and not to solely focus on short-term deliverables. HR and organizational leaders need to be able to assess and solve for their own challenges in ways that are consistent with their culture and which are self-sustaining in the longer term. Karyn’s personal goal is for organizations to reduce their dependency on external consultants.

Culture is king and solutions need to be tailored and relevant to each company.

Karyn has executed complex global projects and offers deep expertise in developing effective communication strategies that put change in context for a global workforce in a culturally relevant and appropriate way. For any change effort, it is important to understand where an organization is starting from, where they are headed, and to establish key milestones and feedback loops, from culture surveys to roundtable sessions throughout the journey.

 

Karyn Detje is the founder of FABRIC and has spent her career helping organizations and people perform at their best.  Her experience ranges from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, including Pepsi, Allied-Signal and Atlantic Richfield. Karyn has been the Chief Human Resources Officer at several global organizations including Quokka Sports, Publicis Group Media and most recently at Tory Burch. Karyn holds a B.A. In Economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Southern California. Karyn is a global leader and team builder, and is focused on helping organizations and HR teams create environments where employees are engaged, committed, productive and most of all, happy.
